Body Mass Index Calculator

The Body Mass Index calculator shows an indication of an adults' body mass, depending on weight and height.

So, this calculator does NOT measure your body fat. That's why two people with a different percentage of body fat can have the same body mass index.

And that's why this formula only is an indicator and it's absolutely not the only one concerning health risk. It certainly isn't a diagnostic tool. It only just indicates whether your overweighted or not. That's it.

Talk to your doctor to see if you are at an increased risk for disease and if you should lose weight, whatever your results of your body mass. Even a small weight loss (just 10% of your current weight) may help to lower the risk of disease.

The Body Mass Index (BMI) formula was developed by Belgium statistician Adolphe Quelet (1796-1874), hence it also became known as the Quetelet Index.
The formula is weight (in kilograms) divided by height (in meters) squared.

Please note, that this Body Mass Indicator is just that, an indicator! As such, it should be used with caution. BMI will be inaccurate for pregnant women, children and people with excess muscle mass.

With that all said, let's calculate your body mass index:
